Description of specimen

Green glittering beetle consistent with Emerald ash borer. I have a degree in natural resource management and have seen this species before working with entomologists, I am positive of its ID. It flew into my hair and I saw it on the ground briefly before it flew away.

Commentary

Thank you for your report. Unfortunately, without a specimen or a good picture, we cannot make a species determination. We have several dozen traps for EAB currently deployed in Salem as well as Marion and Polk county. If you encounter suspect EAB, please take a few photos or capture the specimen and put it in a crush proof container. We can identify it to species level. Thank you for being on the lookout for EAB
