Description of specimen

(As mentioned above) I had what I believe to be an Emerald Ash Borer fly in front of my front porch and then go land on my (140-year-old) Oregon White Garry Oak.
I approached the tree, got a good look at the insect, and then it flew away before I could get a picture.

This insect was fully mature; about 1.75 inches in length, dull green chiton carapace covering the wings; very beautiful bright emerald abdomen when it spread its wings and flew off.

I have just planted an Oregon Ash sapling! I really dont want to lose it!

Commentary

Hello, unfortunately we cannot make a determination without a photo or a specimen. We do have several EAB traps in the area as well as monitoring of thousands of ash trees in the Valley.

If you get a picture, you can add it here or make a new report. Here is our state's resources on EAB: www.OregonEAB.com. Thank you
